I was happy with the work overall, it was quick (about 24 hours) and I was very satisfied with the cover letter. However, when I asked for the dates to be revised I didn't like that the CV writer pushed back on including months on my CV (only the year), to a recruiter it could look like there are gaps in my CV, but apparently adding the months is including information employers didn't ask for. Never heard that before.
I will have to edit that myself as he didn't seem willing to do it. That is the only thing stopping me from giving five stars.
Poorest service. None of the work was completed. The first draft for the cover letter was a copy and paste of my cv, the second a copy and paste of the JD and the third a copy and paste of thoughts I shared. I had to write the cover letter myself in the end so I wouldn't miss the deadline. And when I asked for a refund, I was told I had been sent all the drafts and the work was completed. No refund, and now no communication.

A clear understanding of the requirements regarding an excellent CV. The only negative aspect was the quotation which, although stated as discounted, was still more expensive than going directly via the website.

I am genuinely disappointed in the service. I decided to pay for it thinking i would be able to get a great cv that didn't sound like waffle or your typical clichés. Well that's exactly what I got! I even provided feedback to that effect giving specific examples of what part really didn't sound like me... proven track record in supporting notable customer objectives? That I love market research.... this is clearly a copy and paste job rather than taking the time to get to know the person it is being written about
some of the parts of the cv were even labelled wrong... competencies rather than skills...
in the work section achievements rather than main responsibilities. I am overall really disappointed and ended up re writing it myself! I am clearly a student and paying that amount is a lot of money and really think I have wasted my money and time.

I think having a CV writer write a cover letter is very difficult as cover letters are supposed to be very tailored to the requirements of each particular role. My main issue, however, was that I have consistently read and been told (by advice sites and career advisors or experts in the industry), that I should also be sure to follow the STAR technique. Basically, to back up my claims of 'being something' or 'being able to do something,' with an example of how I have done this in the past (or something similar that could be transferred).
The cover letter was absent from this and the focus was on explaining what I can do and not how/why I feel in a position to make this statement. I tried to express my concern by pointing to a few examples, but, the writer simply changed the claims that I was making, but still did not give examples to back them up, and explained that this (the style of the cover letter) was a proven strategy and add to it myself to further tailor it for each job.
I fully expected that I would need to change or add to it for each role. But, the way that these examples of 'strengths' were written and presented just felt very abstract. As an example, writing "Overhauling training and working practices; improving the transparency of key information to improve decision making" is fine, but, what is missing is an example of when and how I have previously done this and how this relates to improving the transparency of key information....".
The other thing I was a little confused about was this sentence, "Additionally, my talents in communication, report writing and relationship building will enable me to seamlessly integrate with your team and provide exceptional service to ensure an outstanding student experience." The roles I am applying for have nothing to do with the student experience so this is really irrelevant. As I said in my feedback on the CV, if I am told to expect the work in approx 2-3 business days, then please take the time to check these small details rather than delivering it within 24 hours but with these kinds of problems which makes one feel that it has been done in a bit of a rush.
I am sure if I had kept contacting the CV writer about each of these issues big and small they would have all been resolved. But, as I am working, studying, and writing cover letters on a daily basis, I was tired of also giving back feedback about these things which I felt were fairly obvious - I had also already changed from one CV writer to another although I would have preferred a refund at that time, as my confidence in the service was very low, so this impacted my willingness this time around to keep giving feedback and raising issues - especially when I did not feel like my point was understood and addressed.
I felt that the information I shared about myself, my experiences, and my professional goals was captured well.
My CV is more specific to my career aims and my experiences have been presented in a more concise and professional manner. The writer distinguished between achievements and responsibilities and I though this was useful, as I would not have considered or been able to make this distinction. There were some minor issues with the text which on the first draft was OK, but, seeing them on the second draft was less okay. I would rather receive the work less quickly to feel confident that the writer took their time over it.
In only 4 hours Kathlyn was able to write up my advanced career CV.

It was a very professional and fascinating experience. Though I've worked for many years in senior finance positions, reviewed resumes and brought in people based on their personal letters and etc, for some reason I could not make my own resume look interesting (even to myself). I initially had 5 pages in my CV and Naomi managed to reduce it down to 3 pages. She was receptive of my requests and was able to provide the CV that I wanted. There a few unnecessary paragraphs and some of it were too wordy but it wasn't a big deal as it allowed me have options of what I can remove and keep. The cover letter my senior consultant, Claire, helped me put together means I am using a cover letter for the first time. I passed up on so many job postings which required a cover letter because I didn't really understand how to put it together and differentiate it from my CV. I have been given a good draft which is adaptable depending on exactly which job I am applying for and having this so well written means I am confidently applying for double the jobs now.
My LinkedIn page was a muddled mess, at best. Again, Claire (who was my senior consultant) managed to make it easy to read, complete, and point out a few errors in the way I was presenting myself to hiring parties.
I wasn't really too fussed about having someone work on my CV. I always thought that the information was in the CV I already had and that the hiring party could pull it apart to find the information they were looking for. With the work done on mine I found I got a shorter, simpler, snappier version of the same information which is both more professional looking, and more easy to digest for the hiring parties who are having a quick glance at the CV's to decide which ones to invest more time on. The first person who was assigned was then unable to complete my CV so another person was assigned.
The drafts sent to me I wasn't happy with and I saw mistakes on my CV and felt the quality of the CV was very poor especially for a senior consultant
The person also assigned also worked at night so by the time I got their feedback in the morning that person was no longer online to make my changes during the day. My deadline was also approaching and I felt stressed because my CV still wasnt completed.
At the end of it I got fed up and got my cv proof read by someone else (external)
A complete waste of £165!! Not worth it and do not recommend the service at all.

Initially had reservations about using a CV service and whether I would be wasting my money. Decided on full Senior Consultant package (CV, cover letter, LinkedIn profile) and worked with my Consultant, Jeff. Found him to be friendly, professional, understanding, quick to respond and met all my requirements. During the process I managed to find employment, so "unfortunately" did not use the improved documents, however, I am confident it would have delivered the sought results and happy I got "value for money". Even asked a Senior Executive of a multi £bn company for opinion and received very positive feedback (commenting he would use service if required!!). Thank you, Jeff, for all your hard work and ultimately the service you provided!
The CV writer assigned to me had limited knowledge of the requirements and the market and hence could not provide an effective well-written CV even after suggestions. It is better to go for a service where the writers are professionals and who can guarantee call backs from recruiters.

I liked the rapid responses to updates required. What I didn't like was only having the one verbal conversation. I had one phone call with Rebecca but no verbal contact with Christeline who was actually composing my CV, Covering Letter, and Linkedin Profile. It would have been more productive, in my opinion, to have discussed some of the proposed updates over the phone rather than continuously having to communicate with written notes. I did suggest doing this but was told no call was allocated. I would have also liked my Linkedin Profile to have been actually done by Christeline rather than copy and paste the information as some of the content and suggested areas for these to be added I struggled to find owing to my unfamiliarity with Linkedin. I could have provided my login details plus password and when profile was completed, changed the password.

The LinkedIn profile was very detailed and clear on how to fill in all the different steps. It gave good tips on how to get the most out of your LinkedIn profile, like requests, posts and groups.
The cover letter was very detailed and written really well. It included everything I had done in my career and written in a way that made it sound a lot fuller and exciting than I could have written!
The communication was very clear from the start, Nicole explained succinctly what she needed from me. If there was anything that I needed changing on the CV it was done quickly and exactly how I wanted it. The whole process was turned round in a week and it was great that I was given the time to read everything through and to get any changes in. The only thing I would change is there could be a bigger choice of templates and colours for CV's/resumes.
